Great Oaks Apostolic Church was founded in 2008 when God spoke to Sr. Pastor Charles W. Patmon and Pastor Joyce Patmon to relocate to the city of Murrieta, California from San Diego.

Senior Pastor
Charles W. Patmon, Sr.
Pastor Patmon began his walk with the Lord in 1966 in Pennsylvania, where he was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost. He was called to the ministry in 1968 and served in the U.S. Navy from 1966–1968. In 1975, he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Education from Washington and Jefferson College. Pastor Patmon married Joyce in 1971, and they are blessed with six children and thirteen grandchildren. In 1978, he moved to California and joined North Park Apostolic Church (NPAC), where he served as Assistant Pastor and Principal of NPAC Christian Academy. He later founded Apostolic Temple Church in Pennsylvania (1986), San Carlos Christian Church in San Diego (1999), and Great Oaks Apostolic Church in Temecula (2008). Since its founding, Great Oaks has continued to grow and now seeks a larger home to serve its expanding community. Praise God.

Pastor
Joyce Patmon
Joyce D. Patmon was born on February 15, 1947, in Washington, Pennsylvania. She was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Ghost at the early age of ten. She has been exhorting and encouraging church members and others with her fiery testimonies since she was a young girl. She began teaching Sunday school before she was a teenager. She served as the District Young Peoples President of the Western Pennsylvania District Region for several years. She married Charles W. Patmon on March 27, 1971, and they have been a team ever since. She is the mother of six grown children, all of whom are living in Southern California, and the grandmother of sixteen children. Evangelist Patmon has worked in the banking industry and was the first African American employed at Mellon Bank in Washington, PA. She also served for many years as a caregiver to special needs children. She also has been very active in the field of education. She was a teacher at the North Park Christian Academy, San Diego, CA, and rose to the position of principal of that school. Upon relocating to Murrieta, she was employed by the Temecula Valley School District as an Instructional Aide and served in that position until her retirement. Evangelist Patmon was called to the ministry in 1982 and has not stopped preaching ever since the call. She currently serves as Pastor as well as the First Lady of the Great Oaks Apostolic Church (GOAC), in Murrieta, CA. Great Oaks Apostolic Church is the third church that she and her husband have founded and pastored together. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Education from Grace Bible College. She is an accomplished conference speaker and is well known for her anointed ministry and effective altar work. At one time she hosted her own Christian radio talk show in Pennsylvania, titled “God’s Woman” which was on the air for several years. Pastor Joyce Patmon is also the author of a yet-to-be-released Christian marriage counseling book titled “From the Kitchen to the Bedroom – I Aim to Please.” Evangelist Patmon’s ministry is characterized by anointed preaching and altar work, spiritual discernment, excellent teaching, counseling, and mentoring of both young men and women—both spiritually and naturally.

Assistant Pastor
Neirissa Keys
Pastor Keys was baptized in the name of Jesus on February 20, 1980, at Lily of the Valley Apostolic Church in San Diego, and received the Holy Ghost on April 13, 1980. Since then, she has served in numerous leadership roles at churches including North Park Apostolic, Greater Bethel Cathedral in Los Angeles, and Great Oaks Apostolic Church in Temecula. Her ministry experience includes Sunday School Superintendent, Choir Member, Praise & Worship Leader, Youth Leader, VBS Director, Financial Officer, and Associate Pastor. She has a special gift for Christian curriculum development and has written original Sunday School materials and ministry training programs. These resources are being prepared for broader publication. Professionally, Minister Keys works as a Human Resources Trainer at Soboba Casino Resort and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Human Resources Management. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and Business Administration. Her life is marked by humility, excellence, and the anointing of the Holy Ghost.

Associate Pastor
David L. Carpenter
David L. Carpenter is an accomplished Associate Pastor with a passion for community engagement and spiritual leadership. Known for his approachable yet principled style—“fair but firm.” David L. Carpenter is dedicated to guiding others in faith and surface. His personal motto, “Bring them in, Grow them up, and Send them forth to serve,” reflects his commitment to nurturing and empowering believers. (Matthew 28:19-20) A native of Chillicothe, Ohio, David L. Carpenter was raised by his mother, Hazel Carpenter, and later by his sister Patty Cousins and her husband, Doug. He is a proud US Navy veteran, having served as Postal Clerk Third Class and second in charge of the ship’s post office aboard the USS Samuel Gompers AD 37. He also taught self-defense in the Navy and was inducted into the International Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2014. With a Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies San Diego International Bible College and Southern California Seminary David L. Carpenter also holds a diploma in Christian Ministries from Golden Gate Seminary and Educate Bible Institute, as well as a Leadership Internship Certificate from Christian Life Center in conjunction with Oral Roberts University. He has taught Etiquette for Boys in grades K-8 at Turning Point School in Indianapolis and has served in various ministerial roles including at Greater Victory Church, Turning Point Family Center, and Christian Life Center of San Diego. Currently, David L. Carpenter serves as Associate Pastor at Great Oaks Apostolic Church in Murrieta, where he is the Men’s Ministry Leader (Men of Valor, S.O.G.), preaches, teaches Sunday School and Bible Study, and baptizes in the Name of Jesus. He is devoted to helping others “fight the good fight” and encourages all to “trust in God” (Proverbs 3:5-6) and persevere. David L. Carpenter and his wife, Felicia, have been married for 26 years and are proud parents of six children. David L. Carpenter is shaped by his love for God, people, and particularly God’s people!
