Introduction

The preacher opens in prayer, asking that God’s glory be revealed through His Word. Reading from Numbers 22, she recounts how Balak, king of Moab, hires the seer Balaam to curse Israel. A brief historical backdrop explains Moab’s origin from Lot’s eldest daughter. From this narrative she draws seven core lessons for believers today.

Key Points / Exposition

1. Beware of Seeking Spiritual Power Outside of God

•Gifts and callings operate without repentance; some people wield genuine spiritual influence yet remain unsaved.

•Balak turns to Balaam (a practitioner of divination) to manipulate the spiritual realm against Israel.

•Modern parallel: horoscopes, psychics, occult “witch-chat.” Believers must shun these practices and rely solely on God.

2. Speak Only When God Speaks

•Balaam postpones an answer until he has consulted the Lord (Numbers 22:8–11).

•Principle: never act or advise until God’s direction is clear; wait overnight if needed, practicing spiritual patience and inquiry.

3. God’s Blessing Is Irreversible

•God tells Balaam, “Thou shalt not curse the people, for they are blessed” (Numbers 22:12).

•Tied to the Abrahamic covenant (Genesis 12:2–3): those blessed by God cannot be overturned by human or demonic schemes.

•Witchcraft and enchantments fail against a believer covered by Christ’s resurrection power.

4. Choose God Over Wealth and Worldly Glory

•Balak offers Balaam immense honor and riches (Numbers 22:17–18); Balaam replies he cannot move beyond God’s word.

•Mark 8:36 underscores the futility of gaining the world at the cost of one’s soul.

•Money can tempt even devoted Christians to compromise; vigilance is required.

5. God Defends the Helpless—Even Animals

•Balaam’s donkey sees the Angel of the Lord and saves her master (Numbers 22:21–33).

•The angel rebukes Balaam for striking the animal, revealing God’s concern for His creation.

•Believers are urged to provide, at minimum, food, water, and rest for animals entrusted to their care.

6. Bring a Sacrifice and Wait on the Lord

•Before each prophetic word, Balaam builds seven altars and offers oxen and rams (Numbers 23:1–5).

•Today our sacrifices include praise, thanksgiving, and generous giving.

•Genuine worship involves expectancy and patience until God responds.

7. Receive and Declare the Word of the Lord

•Three separate oracles pour blessing on Israel; Balaam cannot reverse God’s decree (Numbers 23:19–20).

•Final prophecy points to Christ—the “Star out of Jacob” and “Scepter of Israel” (Numbers 24:17).

•God is truthful and unchanging; His promises stand even when circumstances suggest otherwise (1 John 1:9 for personal restoration).

Major Lessons & Revelations

•Divine blessing supersedes human or demonic opposition.

•Spiritual authority misused becomes sorcery; spiritual authority submitted becomes prophecy.

•Wealth and status tempt believers to compromise; eternal reward far outweighs temporal gain.

•Creation matters to God; stewardship extends to animals.

•Sacrificial worship and patient waiting position believers to hear God’s voice.

•Jesus Christ is the ultimate fulfillment of every promise spoken over God’s people.

Practical Application

•Renounce all occult involvement; remove books, media, and online engagements that dabble in witchcraft.

•Establish a habit of seeking God before major decisions—pause, pray, and listen.

•Memorize Genesis 12:2–3 as a reminder of God’s irreversible favor.

•Audit personal finances and career choices: refuse income that violates biblical convictions.

•Treat pets and livestock humanely—consistent feeding, clean water, safe shelter.

•Cultivate sacrificial worship: set aside dedicated times for praise, thanksgiving, and generous giving.

•Speak blessings over your family, church, and community, aligning with God’s Word.

Conclusion & Call to Response

The message climaxes with the declaration that no curse can stand against those whom God has blessed. Believers are invited to trust God’s unchanging promises, turn from compromise, and live under the scepter of Christ. Respond by recommitting to God’s voice, His values, and His victory.

Prayer

“Almighty Father, thank You for Your unbreakable blessing. Guard our hearts from compromise, keep us from every occult snare, teach us to wait on You, and let the sacrifice of our praise ascend continually. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
